Hawaii Honeymoon

Formed from two volcanoes, Maui offers both terrific sunset views and numerous adventure activities. Wailea Beach is popular for its resorts, while Kapalua is wonderful for its white sands and snorkeling opportunities. For a bit of adventure, drive the Hana Highway, known for canyons, waterfalls, swimming holes, rocky beaches, and several unique roadside stands. Then visit Haleakala National Park, home of Haleakala, the island's tallest peak, as well as numerous stunning waterfalls.

Home to Honolulu, the state's capital and the largest city in Hawaii, Oahu is wonderful for enjoying cultural activities, restaurants, theaters, and museums, in addition to beach time and the island's two mountain ranges. Some of the must-see cultural and historical sites include the USS Arizona, Pearl Harbor, and the Foster Botanical Garden and Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden. For shopping and easy beach access, head to Waikiki, and for a more natural environment, head out of the city to beaches like Lanikai or Waimanalo.

Less developed than much of the state, this island is known as the Garden Isle thanks to its green, lush environment. Enjoy taking a walk with your partner on the golden beach along Hanalei Bay on Kauai's Western Shore, or relax and snorkel in pretty Poipu. For a hike among waterfalls and gorgeous nature, strap on your boots and head to Nā Pali Coast State Park.

Also just known as Hawaii, the Big Island is where to go to hike volcanoes. Kīlauea is active, Mauna Kea is dormant, and both offer incredible hiking in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. If rest and relaxation is more your speed, however, kick back on beautiful beaches like Hapuna Beach, Maniniowali Beach, or Mauna Kea Beach.

Get up early and summit Haleakala Mountain on Maui, hike Pillbox Trail on Oahu, or plop down on Kapaa Beach Park on Kauai, or head to any other east-facing beach or peak to witness one of the most magnificent sunrise views in the world. The dazzling array of colors is nothing less than inspirational, and the memory will last a lifetime.

Regardless of which island you are on, pack a picnic and enjoy an open-air lunch on a remote beach. Head to Hamoa Beach on Maui, Kailua Beach Park on Kauai, Waimanalo Beach Park on Oahu, or Papohaku Beach on Molokai, among others.

Every major Hawaiian island offers charter boats taking visitors and locals alike out on whale-watching excursions. This is a fantastic way not just to spot these beloved ocean mammals, but to take in the islands from a different vantage point, snorkel, and swim.

For pure romance, of course, book a sunset cruise. What's better than toasting your marriage on the open sea as the sun dips below the horizon?
