"VERY CLEAN AND ORGNIZED, A PLEASURE TO STAY THERE. WE ARE HOPING TO STAY THEIR SAME TIME NEXT YEAR"
"We love Corolla Beach and the house we rent. This is the second time we used this house and will be back next year! It has everything you need and more."
"Too many steps to go up and down. Prefer one large table to accommodate all guests. Nice kitchen set up, two stoves, two refrigerators, lots of plates, silverware, pots and pans. Pool was nice. Close to beach, but numerous steps to access beach did not work well for our disabled family member. The Agency was very responsive for our few needs"
"Parts of the house were very nice. We have stayed in dog friendly houses before, but this one has pee stains on rugs, the couches upstairs were gross. The one bedroom with the wicker headboard, the headboard didn't look like it was cleaned in a long time. The shower and toilet area in that bedroom was very dark. Also, we paid to have the pool heated and when the pool person came to service the pool, he shut the heat off so we lost an entire pool day. We will not rent from Shoreline every again."
"House was really large and loved the layout. Kitchen was very well stocked. Lots of spiders around windows and on screened in porch. Lots of mold and mildew outside windows and front of house. Could use some maintenance and painting on the outside. Also a lot of hornets flying around the deck outside of living room. Could not play volleyball as the grass was too high and it was not suitable to play in that area. We had a really bad storm one afternoon and it did some minor damage around pool area but Shoreline OBX was quick on responding to repair issues and cleaning out pool. Overall we enjoyed our trip but we don't intend on renting this particular house again."
"478 clamshell has the potential to be 5 stars, it's in a good location, very spacious both inside and out but it is filthy and several repairs should be made. The main kitchen is well equipped but there is no place to put any groceries away other than the refrigerator (maybe some shelves could be put in the kitchen closet to create a pantry area for guests) Overall our experience was good but for the amount of money it should have been cleaned A LOT better inside and out."
"We had an awesome week down in corolla. The house was perfect for two families and children. We had plenty of space and enjoyed our time there. We will say that for the adjusted check out and check in times the cleaning could have been just a bit better. The floor clearly hadn't been vacuumed and the microwave was dirty. Also the kitchen mats by the sink and stove are pretty gross. Time to get new ones. We heard from another family their home was in a similar condition. The homes are big so we understand things get overlooked. Other than that we had a great time and will be back for sure!"
"One bathroom appeared to be missed during cleaning. As mentioned last year deck furniture is very basic and sparce. Paint pealing off on outside trim."
"The house was spacious and comfortable."
"This property was perfect for our family vaca to OBX which included our two dogs for the very first time! It was the first pet friendly property we’ve stayed in and we were very satisfied with the house and all it had to offer. The short walk to the beach and the outdoor shower upon return from the beach were two big positives. We had an AC issue on the first two floors and as soon as we contacted the maintenance staff they were out to fix it. Overall, we were very pleased. We would definitely return to SPIN 1 for more family fun!"
"The location was excellent, not too far from the beach, not too far from stores, and the privacy from one house to another was fantastic. Any problems we had it within the house was quickly taken care of, if I ever go to the Outerbanks again I would certainly do the same thing."
"The SPIN 1 On Sail was our favorite place to stay so far. The place was clean, the kitchen was well stocked, the pool and hot tub was great, so many things to rave about, we loved it. We had 8 adults and 3 small children and never had a problem being in each others way. The private beach at Corolla was clean and less crowded. I liked that it was a gated community. The only drawback was the walk to the beach but we did it. We hope to come back next year!"
"The property was exactly as listed and is located in a nice neighborhood and steps to the beach. the home was spacious, looked just as portrayed in pictures and fit our families needs for a quick relaxing getaway"
"This home was just what we were looking for to gather our 3 grown kids and their spouses/significant others! It was a short, pleasant walk to the beach and a short drive to everything we needed! We went in September so the crowds were light. The fact that the house was pet friendly was a bonus! We brought our dogs and were able to let them run and enjoyed every minute! The house was so welcoming and having the pool was wonderful when we had some windy days! I would highly recommend this home for your vacation!"
"One of the 2 master bedrooms smelled like urine. We had to spray it down and keep a fan on high speed 24/7. Looked as if the stairs hasn’t even been vacuumed. Also looks like they were in the process of renovating, which I get. But for the price we paid for 2 nights, I expected a lot better. The pool and hot tub were both dirty when we got there with no one coming to maintain it during our stay. Which like to wait a couple of years until Reno is done. Bc the nice was in a good location. And I def saw the potential. But I felt like I needed to wear shoes the whole time I was there."
"Great property at a GREAT location. We hosted our 3 adult kids with husband/significants and there was PLENTY of space. The pool and hot tub was so nice to have since the ocean was very rough causing next to no beach at high tide. Very short walk to the beach. The fact that it was pet friendly was a bonus! Our pups loved it too! Highly recommend!"
"Spin 1 is a great spot for a family vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The community it's located in Is absolutely gorgeous. We've stayed in many homes over the years in the Outer Banks. This one was unique in regard to the lot size the house was on, the well-kept and professional landscaping, as well as the privacy offered. The staff/contractors that stopped by throughout our stay were all very friendly and helpful. In conversation with one of your staff, we found out this property was recently sold/purchased. We understand that we rented this property at the end of the season. However, we did note and want to pass along some maintenance-related considerations for the new owner as well to Shoreline since you're managing it. Most of the issues we noted are things on the lower level and the fenced portion of the rear yard and pool area. 1. Circuit breaker bottom right asterisk (GFCI?) controls downstairs lights/fans in game room as well as the light by the back door that leads to pool area. The breaker was tripped upon arrival and happened again several more times throughout our stay. We arrived after business hours and in the dark. The lower level is how we accessed the property. We did not think to check the breaker box until the following day. We figured it out, but it was. challenging to set-up, unpack on the lower level, the fenced rear yard, and the pool area. 2. Lighting was an issue. The only working light outdoors (back of the house) is the light next to the door that leads to the game room. It would have been helpful when grilling, eating, swimming, showering, etc. after dark, if lights were added/fixed. 3. The lower level back door referenced above—the blinds hanging over that door are not secure. It fell a handful of times when opening and closing the door. We decided that for everyone's safety and to prevent from breaking the blinds, it was best to leave them down. We left them down and on the glass table. We would not be able to get this feedback to you before the next family rented, therefore, thought it was important to leave them down so the issue would be noticed. The smoke alarm next to the bunk/double, twin/trundle room on the lower level was not hooked up. We noticed the wiring hanging from the ceiling. The smoke alarm was laying on the book shelf. In the same bedroom, the beds either need to be updated or additional measures should be considered from a safety perspective. On both beds, sharp metal parts/edges are exposed and are a potential injury waiting to happen. The middle leg of the bed bottom bunk is metal and is either broken or loose. It is not sturdy as that leg gives/folds when barely touched. Its a safety concern. I noticed pulls/ vacuum cleaner damage to a few of the rugs in the house, but the one in the lower level bunk bedroom was by far the worst. Speaking of vacuum cleaners, I was only able to find one in the house. It would be helpful to have at least two. Then two people could vacuum. It's a big house and a lot for one person. Additionally, it would be helpful because if one was not performing optimally, there would be a back up, on hand. I don't think that vacuum is picking up very well. It likely needs a filter change as well to be looked over for issues. We did find two brooms—one on the lower level and one on the top floor. The one on the lower level desperately needs a dust pan. Pool vacuum—it would've been really nice to have one of those as well. Regardless of how well you wash off before entering the pool following a trip to beach, it is impossible to keep sand out a pool at the beach. We had some moderate wind that we believe was also a contributing factor. No one in our family went from the beach and directly into the pool. We didn't just rinse off. We showered. And the amount of sand and other debris by the end of the week made the pool experience kind of gross. There were several dozen dead, black worms around the pool deck and in the water. The Grill—It was filthy. It did not have a cover so the outside of it wasn't very inviting. But when we lifted the lid, the grate looked it like it hadn't been cleaned in months. We did our best to clean it, but the grillware available was worn out and not very effective. Also, behind the grill, it looks like there was a small fire—wood is clearly burned and smoke damaged as well the paint is bubbled. Game room—Only 1 pool stick (out of 6 or so) was functional. The rest of them had broken tips or no tips. Only one had a tip with rubber still attached. Not so much of a problem for us, but the game room is a feature of the house that many people are excited about and count on. If you only have one pool stick, it's not much fun. The lower level refrigerator— The fridge lights do not work nor does the display which is digital. We couldn't tell how cold it was set. The dial is a guessing game. Most of our drinks on the top shelf were frozen throughout our stay. We tried to adjust it, but we were unsuccessful. The lower level sink— We did not use the sink but maybe once or twice, but in checking inside of cabinets and drawers to be sure we weren't forgetting anything, I noticed a leak under the sink. It is obviously a small leak as there weren't massive amounts of water collecting. I imagine someone knows about this because there was a bowl and lid in place to catch the dripping water. The drapes in the master bedroom that is located on the second level (next to driveway) are a mess. It looks like someone attempted to open them improperly and forced them open. The hardware needs to be fixed so they are on track and open with ease as well as the drape needs to be repaired. It looked like there was a pull in the fabric that was causing an accordion like effect—they should have been close to touching the floor all the way across, the sliding door. Rather, they appeared to be bunched up kn multiple places at her bottom and impossible to work with while hanging. The kitchen needs a very thorough and deep clean. The trash van area is pretty gross. It has splashes of things that were discarded but didn't completely make it into the trash can. Not just a few spots, but months of it. The counter tops felt dirty to the touch. Lots of dust/dirt under counter top appliances and in corners. The range appears to have something plastic-like that must have melted on it. If you don't address any of these other issues, please make sure you address this last one. Throughout the week, the gates and the doors were the biggest concern for us. The doors are hard to open and even harder to close. Several times, we came inside or went outside and closed the doors behind us, but many times we were in the yard and one of us would notice a door open. As a pet owner, this was a huge worry for us based on how many times it happened and with all 3 doors. Our kids are both 10 and could not open the front door or the rear door that leads to the swimming pool, which I suppose might not be such bad thing for families on vacation with much smaller children that can't swim. However, if you think you closed the door, but failed to close it well enough and it slowly opens back up, a small child or a pet could get out and be gone in no time. Ironically, the locks on the gates at two entry points were unreliable. I assume they are the most used and perhaps worn out. The gate from the rear yard to the driveway nor the gate into the pool latched easily. Like the doors, several times we thought they were closed and moments later noticed them open. I would hate for one of my dogs to get out on vacation and run away or get hit by a car. Even worse, the thought of someone's young child getting out, wandering away from the property, or into the pool. Also, you should know that we aren't the only ones that have a problem with the gates. The pool guy showed up on Wednesday. We were leaving the house so our interaction was brief. He mentioned he would be there from e a little while and we should stay out for an hour because he needed to shock the pool. When we returned back to the house, the pool gate was open. With pools being his job and aware of the danger they can present to small children, I would imagine he thought he closed the gate when he left. Overall, we liked the property a lot. We are reasonable in our expectations, but thought these things were important to pass on. We know that as traffic begins to slow down and weeks the house isn't being rented are opportunities for you to inspect and thoroughly address issues. We had a good experience and would rent this house again if the doors, gates, and poor rear lighting issues were resolved. We think this house has so much potential. It just desperately needs some TLC—some updates, repairs and replacements would be beneficial. Thank you."
"We enjoyed our stay! We were able to get into the home hours earlier than expected! And even though the house was a pet friendly Home there was no smell of animals. The walk to the beach wasn't bad at all, maybe two blocks. I would recommend this home! We had a great week!"
"This was a great location for everything! Beach access was only a 5 minute walk, there were many restaurants to chose from and lots of shopping! The house is huge and there was plentiful room for all of us, with room to spare. The pool was perfect and we spent a good bit of time there and playing pool in the rec room! The only downfall was that the unit wasn’t very clean when we arrived. I notified management, but told them they didn’t have to send anyone back to clean. They were quick to reply, which is always a good thing! We are in property management back home, so we understand how crazy a turnover can be. We come prepared with cleaning supplies on every trip. Overall, great experience! I would recommend this location for a family vacation!"
"Loved this place! My kids (3 teens) and husband and I fell in love with the house and location. We had an amazing time ️"
"The house and location are great. The only thing that wasn't great is we paid to have the pool heated and it only worked 3 of the 7 days we were there. The extra you pay to have the pool heated is not totality worth it if it's not heated the entire rented week."
"We had a great time! It was peaceful and private. We were close to stores and shops as well, like a 5 minute drive."
"Only complaint I have is they had 3 vacuum that didn't work. I called them and they brought a brand new one the very next day. Great customer service. Love that the beach was walking distance. Had a great time."
"Our family enjoyed a week's vacation at SPIN-1 - On Sail Sat-Sat. The location was excellent being a 2-3 block walk to the beach which was not crowded. The home had plenty of room. The kitchen was well supplied with dishes, pots, pans etc. We enjoyed the pool table. We did pay the extra to have the pool & hot tub heated as we went in October. They were nice. The location is also close to Duck & Corolla so there were places to get groceries and eat out. The reason we did not provide 5 stars as the home could have been cleaner than it was."
"We had a great experience with our recent two week stay. Shoreline's customer service was the best we've ever experienced from any property manager. They were ALWAYS responsive and helpful to any questions or issues throughout the entire process and stay. We've been coming to the Outer Banks for decades and they are definitely our favorite now. The house itself was great. The house layout, the yard, the proximity to the beach and stores/restaurants, and the quiet neighborhood were all awesome. We are actually booking this house for next year as well, which is the first time we've ever booked the same house twice. The kitchen was fully stocked with very nice pots/pans, appliances, blender, plates, silverware, and miscellaneous gadgets. The washer and dryer were also great. The landscaping of the yard was incredible. It really stood out and made for a great backdrop when outside. There is also plenty of privacy with all of the surrounding trees. The only downside to the experience was that the house was not cleaned to a satisfactory level, especially in light of the extra covid concerns. The bright side was that the Shoreline house inspector called back the cleaning crew just before we arrived for early check-in to have them do some additional cleaning. We've stayed in many other houses through other property managers that were not clean either, and this was the first time that an inspector ever proactively called back the crew. That was appreciated. Despite the cleaning issues, we loved the house and the property manager. The free beach gear was also a great benefit. Highly recommended (just don't take our weeks!)."
"Had a great time as usual. Definitely coming back again next year."
"This was our first time staying with Spin1 and using ShorelineOBX. I can't say enough good things about the property in terms of location and privacy. Had one small issue but was able to fix it with a quick vacuum clean. This did not deter us for reserving it for next years stay!"
"Loved the layout of this house, very spacious and ample room for the 11 of us; we never felt cramped or in each other's way. The pool was a welcome addition and enjoyed by most of us as the men do not enjoy the beach. We were concerned about the distance to the beach but it is a mere 2 blocks and a lot less crowded than the beaches to the south. Also, The gated neighborhood is great for riding bikes."
"This vacation rental was a Christmas gift to our entire family. This was probably one of the best vacations that our family has ever been on. The Rental property was perfect for what we were looking to get out of our vacation. Only set back...ran out of propane for hot water heater on day 4 guest before us had pool heated... maintenance was out as soon as we had contacted them and were on top of the situation. Had hot water in about 2 hours. Hats off to the crew for taking care of us ASAP! Be it a short walk to the beach, the added bonus of the beach gear package that was included made it that much easier to haul our chairs, easy up, coolers and all of our beach gear. (opted for the wagon, 2 bikes and 3 beach chairs) the house had more than ample room for the amount of guests that we had (13) with room to spare. Plenty of beds, bathrooms and space for everyone. The pool, hot tub, and outside area were perfect for the days the family did not want to go to the beach. gas grill a bonus! why cook inside when you can grill! Grocery store easily assessable (1.5 miles north) and very convenient for the last minute overlooked items. (ABC directly across the street. BONUS) quiet community hardly heard anyone the entire week that we were there. We will definitely be looking at this same rental for next years vacation! I would and will definitely recommend this home to family and friends! Thank you for the great memories!"
""On Sail" is a very nice house, plenty of open space for a large group to dine together and watch TV. Especially enjoyed the outdoor shower after a long day on the beach. Property was accurately described, well maintained and management company was very professional, no problems. Would definitely recommend this property. This was my second year renting this house."
"Great"
"The house was perfect! Plenty of room- beds & pillows were comfy (and we're picky). Storage galore, loved having the large food cupboard too! During the rainy moments at home, owners provided plenty of board games. Having the air hockey/pool table & foosball was an added bonus for the kids. You really can't go wrong here- the subdivision community was inviting and quiet. A super short walk to the beach--don't worry about being close to 12- noise was NOT an issue. Great to be so close to Harris Teeter for groceries! We frequented the town of Duck for evening dinners (Aqua, Red Sky Cafe) - but Corolla has plenty to offer-MUST hit up Bubbies for burgers! Stop by the butcher shop in the Food Lion/DQ strip- fantastic meats and even better local brews on tap to enjoy there or fill up a growler for home! We rented wave runners a couple times from The fine gentleman next to the Paper Canoe restaurant near Duck, good times! If you plan on wanting to see the wild horses- be sure to reserve a time at least 2 weeks prior during high travel season. Overall, would ABSOLUTELY stay here again-- realty management/repairs came out quickly for minor repairs and were super friendly with advice. You can't go wrong! We enjoyed this second trip to Corolla a thousand times more than our trip last year in a different house/different realty agency. Enjoy the OBX with this lovely home away from home!"
