Fort Gaines
A piece of Civil War history, among the treasures to be found at this impressive fort is a gigantic anchor from the SS Hartford, on which Admiral David Farragut gave the now legendary command, "Damn the torpedoes - full steam ahead!" You can also see the original cannons used in the Battle of Mobile Bay and an operational blacksmith shop, before exploring the tunnel system.

Fort Morgan
Standing guard at the intersection of Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, this fort was used throughout the Spanish-American War and both World Wars. You can see the evolution of coastal fortifications in the upgrades that the US Army have made to the stronghold.
Indian Mound Park
Bottle Creek Indian Mounds are integral to Mississippi's coastal heritage and are listed as a National Historic Landmark. Between 1250 and 1550, these 18 mounds were the central plaza of the largest Native American chiefdom and this part of the Gulf Coast. The confluence of the Tombigbee and Alabama rivers may be responsible for the site, which remains a gateway into another world.

Dauphin Island famously has the most exquisite landscapes in Mobile County.
